I was really impressed at the depth of character development and the action-filled plot kept me feeling like I was learning while I was also trying to figure out the mystery. The characters kept me guessing - I was never sure who were the good guys and the bad guys, and this added to the engagement of the book. As the theme unfolded, I appreciated the timeless messages of accountability for your actions, existentialism, and, I guess, you might call it 'karma.' Jim Andrews was portrayed so deeply that, by the middle of the book, I felt like I knew him, but Hoofnagle really got inside his mind for the ending.The ending! I can't spoil it for you, but the events leading up to the story's conclusion and the seductive, yet existential questions raised by human-system relationships is true art. I'm still thinking about it. This is a lasting novel that has raised important themes which will be actively discussed once the book breaks through into the mainstream.

But, as I started reading this novel, two things happened. First, I had to keep reminding myself that my husband wrote it. I found out new aspects of his talents and his ability to invent and portray characters moved me, it was like meeting a part of my husband I didn't know existed. Second, I really got into the story - it was not just a science fiction story; the plot was exciting, the characters were rich and the theme of the story was timeless. This book is a "must read" - I was amazed. E. Gordon has always been a storyteller, but this is the first time he got one of his stories into a novel, and it really blew me away."
